about

Bodybump was set up to meet the needs of pregnant women on the Mornington Peninsula. Jo Ford, the founder of Bodybump, wanted to use her own experience in pregnancy as a building block to help support other women who were looking to enhance and maintain their fitness in pregnancy.

Another vital part of pregnancy wellbeing is to feel connected to other local women as well as developing a close connection with your baby.

bodybump offers:

Pre and post natal small group fitness groups

Prenatal yoga

Pelvic floor exercises

Bespoke antenatal classes

Jo Ford

Jo Ford is a school teacher and personal trainer, specialising in pregnancy health and fitness. She has trained as an aqua aerobics instructor with WETS (Water and Exercise Training Services) and qualified as a pregnancy meditation practitioner in 2003 at the Perth Meditation Centre.  Jo also writes for Peninsula Kids Magazine on pregnancy and post natal issues.

Jo is also a counsellor and psychotherapist with a special interest in women and couples in the perinatal period. Jo works at the Bays Hospital in Mornington and at her therapy studio in Mount Eliza.

Jo had two rather difficult pregnancies - both physically and emotionally. She suffered with hyperemesis and gestational diabetes. Although debilitating, she was able to control these to a certain extent with the help of regular exercise. She gained a substantial amount of weight during both pregnancies. With the help of a personal trainer, strict exercise routine and sensible nutrition, not only was she able to lose that extra weight, but look better than before she got pregnant.

Jo participates in a range of exercise classes, including spin, Pilates, yoga and strength and conditioning.
